Date: November the 15th, 2002
Action Items for next meeting
- Marco and Koushik: will add more paper in the "reading material section";
- Koushik: will prepare a one page summary for every paper to post along with
the paper;
- Paul: read the 802.11a standard to figure out where the forward error correction
coding is done.
- Marco: will read and present Justin McNew's MAC extension proposal;
- Paul: check out what is the price of a Linux SAS licence;
- Daniel: will request Atheros to send Tony the new drivers source code;
- Tony: will check what kind of error correction code algorithm is used; He will
investigate if the CC is dinamically adjusted. If so he will figure out
how to turn this feature off;
- Paul: after the data collection we will end up with a great amount of data.
Part of it may be invalid. Paul will figure out how to deal with this
problem;
- Koushik: will figure out how ns2 and OPNET deal with multiple packets collision;
- Paul: will prepare a test plan work sheet;
- Thomas: will use Paul worksheet to create a new CTK with automatic naming
convention features;
Presentations:
- Koushik Rajan, "Simulator (NS core and V2V)" [ppt file];
- Paul Qing Xu, "Test plan" [ppt file];
Progress report and discussions
- Traffic trace: we figure out why some nodes "disapeared"
from the traffic trace;
- Proposed idea on security: it cannot be implemented because the SIFS time
is long enough to accomodate 2 OS interrupts;
- Linux drivers: Linux drivers are coming out, are we going to switch to Linux?
- Atheros new drivers: the new Atheros PCI cards do not work with the old
Atheros drivers.
- We want to modify the Atheros drivers in order to:
- Stop and restart the beacon trasmission dynamically;
- Choose and set the channel;
- Set the transmission power;
- Set the transmission rate;
- We discuss the result of one experiment with the CTK;
