Dr. Zhanwen Liu is an associate professor in Chang’an University. She has been a visiting scholar in UC Berkeley's Institute of Transportation Studies and California Partners for Advanced Transit and Highways (PATH) since December 2018. Her research focuses are on computer vision perception and cognition oriented to Connected and Automated Vehicles application, especially on traffic scene cognition map construction from multi-view cameras equipped in vehicle and road infrastructure at the intersection.
She is working on a project using Cooperative Adaptive Cruise Control (CACC) to form High-Performance Vehicle Stream, funded by FHWA and joint work with Steven E. Shladover and Xiao-Yun Lu. She is in charge of developing road lane detection for the first vehicle and the distance between vehicles from a platoon.
