Biography

Zema Katsnelson is a Chief Operating Officer and Manager of the Partners for Advanced Transportation Technology (PATH) program at UC Berkeley.

PATH is an interdisciplinary research program with a portfolio of active research contracts in excess of $80 million. PATH conducts research at the leading edge of transportation sciences including the application of artificial intelligence.

Zema is a certified Project Management Professional (PMI PMP) and a licensed California Professional Engineer. He holds a Ph.D. degree in Technical Sciences.

Zema has strong enterprise business knowledge and working experience with a diverse range of companies and lines of business. His experience is in organizational management, and leading innovative mission-critical projects and programs.  He also brings hands-on technical expertise across a wide range of technologies to the PATH team.

Zema has been successful in building effective cross-functional teams, implementing process improvement and effective methodologies throughout his career.

Zema is a recipient of a prestigious UC Berkeley Excellence in Management Award nominated by his colleagues for exemplifying resilience, adaptiveness, diversity engagement, compassion, work-life balance, and morale, and for providing unparalleled support and encouragement to his staff.

In his spare time, he enjoys travel, hiking, history and sports.
